3 NBA Trades That Need To Happen:

Philadelphia Trades For Dejounte Murray

Dejounte Murray and the rest of the Atlanta Hawks’ core has had their names looming in trade rumors for some time now. However, reports say that the Hawks are finally making the executive decision to move on from their core that at one point was just two games away from reaching the NBA finals.

The head coach of the 76ers, Nick Nurse, is the perfect orchestrator for Murray to play behind; A defensive minded coach with great schemes paired with an elite defensive guard. Dejounte Murray is having the most efficient season of his career, shooting a career high in 3P% and in true shooting. Philadelphia could certainly benefit from Murray’s playmaking ability as well. Sixers GM, Darryl Morey, should do whatever it takes to haul in the one-time all star. Philadelphia received decent tradable assets when Harden was dealt to Los Angeles in late October, so the trade is certainly doable.

Trade Proposal

Sixers receive: Dejounte Murray, Garrison Matthews

Hawks receive: Robert Covington, Furkan Korkmaz, Danuel House Jr., 2026 first-round pick, 2028 first-round pick

Miami Trades For Tyus Jones

The Washington Wizards are on pace to win around 20 games this season and are contenders for the No. 1 overall pick in this upcoming draft. It makes all the sense in the world for them to move on from their aging veterans. It’s obvious that the most enticing pieces are Kyle Kuzma and Tyus Jones who are both very likely to be on new teams next month. Though, they are not the only appealing assets on the roster. With names like Danillo Gallinari, Delon Wright, and Mike Muscala all on expiring deals, it’s best that they also move on from them ahead of the February 8th deadline.

Miami is middle of the pack when it comes to APG. They also have trouble getting uncontested looks; ranked 3rd-worst in open shot attempts. Moving on from Lowry to upgrade at the point guard position feels inevitable and should be done to acquire one of the most reliable offensive players in all of basketball. This trade would also allow Tyler Herro to flourish as a scorer and take the playmaking load off of him.

Trade Proposal

Heat receive: Tyus Jones, Delon Wright

Wizards receive: Kyle Lowry, Nikola Jovic, 2027 first-round pick

Dallas Trades For Alex Caruso

The Bulls are reportedly finally selling their assets and are committed to a retool. Assuming they are shopping their main three pieces (Derozan, LaVine, Caruso), Alex Caruso seems to carry the most value. The gritty-tenacious defending bald eagle has gathered interest from various contending teams around the league. Though, the Mavericks seem like the best fit with the most fulfilling offer.

Dallas should definitely fluff up their backcourt defense and Caruso is one of the best plug-in players in the league. Similarly to the Dejounte Murray trade referenced earlier, Caruso would fit in perfectly with the coaching schemes with Jason Kidd also being a defensive-minded coach. He would immediately be impactful to the team and could cause a ripple come playoffs.

Trade Proposal

Mavericks receive: Alex Caruso

Bulls receive: Jaden Hardy, Grant Williams, 2026 first-round pick
