Are The Grizzlies Already In Trouble?

The loss of Ja Morant was expected to have a significant impact on the Grizzlies early this season. However, as the season progresses, the challenge that they face becomes even more daunting. They currently are one of the worst offensive teams in the league and an immediate turnaround is needed before it’s too late.

The Grizzlies began the season with a shockingly bad 1-7 record. They were forced to adapt to losing their star player for 25 games due to a suspension. To make matters worse, it was announced that they would lose their starting center, Steven Adams, to a season-ending surgery.

Their offensive struggles have been made apparent in just about every game they have played so far. The loss of Ja Morant has forced the Grizzlies to place Desmond Bane in an unfamiliar role as the primary scoring option. While Bane has performed well, it has not translated into winning basketball.

One underlying reason for the Grizzlies horrific start is the absence of Tyus Jones, who was traded this past offseason to Washington. Jones is a desirable point guard known for his elite assist-to-turnover ratio. His absence has been glaring as the team has struggled with ball security.

In essence, the Memphis Grizzlies have lost key players without reliable replacements to address their issues. Their season is on a steep downwards slope, drawing attention to what could potentially be a critical offseason for the team.
